Our driveway hasn’t even really been started yet and I’m already fed up with it. If you’ve read my post on ‘Re-doing The Drive: The Work Begins!‘ and ‘Being Let Down By Builders…‘ then you’ll know what we need to do to our drive and that it already hasn’t been plain sailing.
On the day we dug out the large flowerbed down one side of our drive we had issues with the skip company where although our order had gone through on our end, it hadn’t gone through on the company’s end and so after lots of phone calls we finally got our skip but half a day late (kudos to the skip company for actually getting one to us though!). Then we’ve had issues with builders demanding more money at the last minute which meant that we had to cancel our drop curb being done and after a getting a few more quotes we’ve come to the realisation that it is going to be more money than we originally expected. That’s fine but it means that everything is put on hold whilst we save more money and we’re therefore holding our neighbours up (who are property developers that have done up the house and rented it out) as we were doing a joint application with them along with a few other things. We’re not people that put things on credit cards but I feel like in this case we may end up having to do that just so things can keep moving along because at this rate our drive will still be a mess at Christmas and that’s something I really don’t want.
Of course after the drop curb is finally done we then have to re-do the actual drive and with the extra expenses for the drop curb it’s going to involve even more saving. We’ve then got our wedding that we need to start saving for in September otherwise we won’t be able to get married abroad when we want in September 2017 with our little party for friends and family after we get back. And then to top it all of this was the year that I was supposed to be learning to drive and finally have my very own car that would have sat on our new drive that would now have space for two cars. But nope, that’s going to have to be put off for yet another year.
Truth be told, it’s all giving me one big headache at the moment. Apologies for the rant but sometimes you’ve just got to have a good ol’ moan and get things off your chest.
