The Body Shop Event, Nottingham
A little while ago I was invited in through The Body Shop's doors for an evening of learning all about their new products - along with the old, getting advice on any skin woes and just having a good ol' play with whatever you could dig your hands into. I'm a big fan of beauty bits and I regularly spend over an hour in my favourite skincare, bodycare and makeup haunts so it was lovely to just explore and have a nosy around the store.
The Body Shop is genuinely one of my most trusted skincare brands, and so as skincare is something I can be rather fussy about I was particularly keen to learn more about what was on offer. Making a b-line for the skincare section I quickly identified some of my favourites - the Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter, Vitamin C Energising Face Mist, Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask and the British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask.
As for their new additions as I'm already a huge fan of two of their face masks, I was keen to see what the Japanese Matcha Tea Pollution Clearing Mask was all about. I was shocked to hear how much of an issue pollution is and how damaging it can be to our skin, especially in regards to ageing. At 27 I'm not old, but I'm approaching my 30's and am beginning to notice how my skin is changing and a few lines are beginning to make an appearance. So when the skin specialist told me that cities including Nottingham were particularly high in pollution I was intrigued to hear about how a face mask could help.
With it's herbal scent, the Japanese Matcha Tea Mask with Matcha Tea and Moroccan Aloe Vera to soothe. It purifies your skin and helps to remove pollution build up whilst leaving your skin feeling smooth, fresh and radiant.
There's also two new toners - the Chinese Ginsing and Rice Toner and a British Rose Petal-Soft Gel Toner. Whilst the Chinese Ginsing and Rice Toner aims to clarify and even out skin tone, the British Rose Petal-Soft Gel Toner helps to plump up your skin and add moisture. It was the latter product that really interested me. I loved the idea of a gel toner and already being a fan of the British Rose Plumping Mask, I wondered whether the toner would be just as lovely - and it was! If you have normal, dehydrated or dry skin then I'd highly recommend popping into a store or taking a peek online.
I was keen to have my skin analysed by the skincare specialist whilst I was there, because sometimes people think they have a certain type of skin or particular issues when that's not always the case. I wanted to make sure that the type of products I'd typically go for were definitely right for my skin. Thankfully I wasn't far off with my prediction. From a couple of skin tests including that rather gross but effective method pictured above, my skin was normal and slightly more oily on my cheeks but dehydrated on my forehead. I was advised to use sun lotion daily as the combination of being a redhead and the pale complexion that comes with than means I'm rather susceptible to sun damage. On top of this, I was told to go easy on any anti-ageing products (not matter how much I wanted to start using them already!) because they'd overload my young skin and could possibly make me break out. Instead, it was recommended that I reduce the effects of pollution and sun damage on my skin to decrease the aging effect that this may have. I ended up picking up a few products that were recommended after my consultation and after a good few weeks of testing, I'm more than happy with the results so will be sharing these with you very soon.
There was also some new bodycare, haircare and makeup bits in The Body Shop too which I briefly looked at including new Spa Of The World Body Creams which are richly moisturising, luxurious and smell divine. As well as a new foundation, their Matte Clay Skin Clarifying Foundation, which offers a matte full coverage finish and skincare benefits to help treat problem skin whilst hiding it too.
I absolutely adored my evening with The Body Shop and found it incredibly interesting to not only discover any new releases, but to also explore their old and most-loved ones. A big thank you to everyone at The Body Shop for a wonderful evening.
