We found a venue, we have a date
and our invites have started to go out!
It's safe to say that planning our wedding so far has been a bit of a rollercoaster. If you're not a regular here on TGA you probably won't know about the fact that we were going to have our wedding here, then we weren't and then we were again. You can read all about that as well as more wedding related posts here.
That said, I feel like I can finally tell you that things are looking up on the wedding front. We're found our venue, booked a date and registrar, and have started to send our invites out. We've even given Notice of Marriage! We're finally getting somewhere and it's starting to feel real... I've even tried on a few wedding dresses!
We always said we liked the idea of our wedding being a little bit more laidback, nothing too formal but keeping some of the traditions we do like and removing the ones we don't. So we're getting married in a gastropub I grew up going to alongside the river with a beautiful terrace, open fires and good food. It's a rustic but stylish setting and one that neither us, nor our guests will feel uncomfortable in. There's no disgusting swirly carpet or damask curtains in sight, thankfully! There'll be no top table, no maid of honours or best men, I'll be doing a speech and we're not hiring a photographer!
As for the date? It's November 2018.
We met with the venue coordinator at the start of February to discuss our menus along with other details and we're both genuinely so happy with our choice of venue.
I've asked my best girls to be bridesmaids and I'm pleased to announce that they've all said yes. Thank goodness.
Some of the invitations have been sent out too after hours upon hours of designing them and putting them together. A few months ago I began looking at wedding invites and no matter what I found, I just wasn't entirely happy with them. So I opened up photoshop and made them myself using a photo I had taken from where we got in engaged in Austria and started playing around with text and our colour scheme (grey, white, navy and gold). The design is something we're truly happy with and is so personal to us.
As I mentioned above, I've even tried on a few wedding dresses and I guess that's the next thing on my list to sort out. I've potentially got something already in the works with this so if it all pans out I'll let you know all about it.
Are you getting married soon? Or are you already married? I'd love to hear about it!
