Ever since I finished university and started working as a nursery nurse who gets covered in paint, glue and god knows what else 5 days a week, I’ve really lost the desire to make an effort with my hair. It’s a shame because I used to absolutely adore doing my hair and turning it from a wavy mess into something put together and sophisticated. So when I was invited to the VIP launch night of the new RUSH hair salon in Nottingham city centre just footsteps away from Market Square, I hoped that it’d kick start my hair love affair once again and thankfully, it certainly has…
The saying ‘never judge a book by it’s cover‘ comes to mind when describing the RUSH salon. From the outside you’re fooled into thinking that the salon is a relatively small but lovely single floored space but after a tour I soon discovered that the salon itself treats us to much more.
With the ground floor displaying what I like to call a more ‘typical‘ hairdressing salon look and a separate almost spa-like section hidden away for all your hair washing needs. Whilst the upstairs offers a more boutique vibe with beautiful detailing on the walls, a large bay window and lovely finishing touches including a seating area with stylish patterned cushions and even an ombre floor lamp.
After an in depth consultation to talk about our hair, any issues we’re currently having and whether we’re thinking about changing it in the future (I’m hoping to have a long messy bob with blonde balayage at some point in the future which was suggested to me during my consultation), we were then offered the opportunity to have our hair styled.
Using the new GHD hair straighteners my hair was loosely curled which really brought out the best of my old grown out blonde highlights and left my hair feeling incredibly soft and smooth, whilst also appearing put together and glamourous. I have to admit, I do like curling my hair every now and again but never seem to achieve the same effect at home.
One thing I have to mention about the RUSH Nottingham salon is just how friendly and genuine all of the hairdressers I spoke to were. They all seemed completely non-judgemental (this is something I’ve found in the past with previous hairdressers), warm, knowledgable and had a real desire to help.
I left at the end of the night feeling so positive about the salon, staff and my hair, and it was lovely to meet more like-minded bloggers at the event who also agreed how lovely the salon was. A big thank you to Cartwright Communications and RUSH Nottingham for inviting me along for the VIP night.
