I love this time of year, the festive season and the whole concept of giving, spending time with loved ones and being in the Christmas spirit. So when I was invited along as a VIP to the Etsy Made Local Christmas Market last weekend I thought it’d be the perfect opportunity to start my Christmas shopping and I wasn’t wrong…
I walked into the Nottingham Trent Student’s Union where the Etsy Made Local Nottingham Christmas Market was based this year not really knowing entirely what to expect. Sure, I’m well aware about Etsy and frequently browse endless pages of items searching for the perfect cushion or wooden chopping board to add to my home, but in terms of an Etsy Christmas Market? Well I just couldn’t imagine it in my head for some reason.
‘…within 30 seconds of walking through the door I had a big smile on my face’
Needless to say within 30 seconds of walking through the door I had a big smile on my face. There were fairy lights glistening from the ceiling, highlighting the many stalls situated around the hall, all dressed to perfection with their items placed neatly on show. Everyone I spoke to was more than happy to tell me about their products, their shops and how it all started. They were all so passionate, so enthusiastic and it was just lovely to see so much love go into each and every item made.
Everything was so unique and it was the ideal place to pick up something a little more special, which if you’re anything like me is the ultimate goal when shopping for gifts for loved ones.
There were a whole host of products available too, from stationary and gift wrap, to chocolate and cuddly toys.
I ended up picking up quite a few gifts whilst I was there and in particular bought far too many beautiful Christmas cards in a variety of styles, including prints of gorgeous freehand embroidered robins and penguins and artsy fairy light illustrations.
‘The Etsy Made Local Christmas Market definitely opened up my eyes to how many amazingly talented and creative people there are living within the Nottingham area’
The Etsy Made Local Christmas Market definitely opened up my eyes to how many amazingly talented and creative people there are living within the Nottingham area, as I’m sure is also the case elsewhere too. And truthfully, it’s not only made me want to buy more unique and beautiful gifts, it’s also inspired me to be more creative myself.
Sadly, the Etsy Made Local Nottingham Christmas Market was only a one day event, but it’s definitely worth taking a peek at the sellers I’ve mentioned, the Etsy Made Local Nottingham Facebook page or having a browse of the Etsy website itself for something a bit more special this Christmas.
Some of my favourite local Etsy sellers:
- Paper Pipit
- Wildgoose Designs
- Cocoa Tabby Chocolate
- Deborah Panesar Illustrations
- Holly Henry Design
