I love Industrial style and always have. Typically the mixture of wood and metal blows me away, but currently I’m so drawn towards metal pieces without any wood on them that I can’t keep my admiration for certain items to myself. So since I can’t fit them all in my little 1930’s 2 bed semi-detached house, I thought I would share some of my favourites in case you fancied picking them up too…
I think this all really started when my office chair arrived. A black steel piece, it’s sturdy and looks amazing with my metal and glass desk. Now I’ve ordered a locker style sideboard for our kitchen diner (more on this soon!) and I’ve found myself lusting after more and more metal items to transform my home into something a bit more edgy.
The only lighter piece I’ve chosen, I spotted this Ikea PS Locker Style Sideboard on Kate’s blog and instantly loved it. I love the clean white shade which is a complete contrast to the trendy high school locker aesthetic but it works so well and freshens it up a bit. I guess it helps that Kate effortlessly styles it perfectly too (take a look at her blog post if you haven’t already)! Perhaps my favourite from the bunch is this Edison Metal Industrial Cabinet from Maisons Du Monde. I adore the dark moody shade paired with apothecary style drawers which are ideal for storing anything from makeup (think Anna and Lily style) to art supplies.
Lighting-wise two statement pieces are currently on my radar. Both from Iconic Lights, the Talisman Table Lamp and the Corinthia 3 Way Over table Ceiling Light are both amazing industrial style lighting options. I love the marble base and super trendy geometric shade on the Talisman table lamp whereas the Corinthia ceiling light features more of a old Victorian steampunk vibe with brass detailing and chain suspension, making it an ideal dining table lighting companion.
If you’ve seen my ‘5 Items In My Kitchen That Were Worth Buying‘ post, then you’ll know I love the wooden crate style boxes that H&M have been doing recently and have 4 different variations already scattered throughout my kitchen diner, so it may come as no surprise that this H&M Metal Rectangular Box is high up on my list. The typography on this box is possibly what draws me to it the most but I do love how distressed it all looks too. This Small Wire Basket, also from H&M, is another stylish but practical solution to store all of those little bits and bobs.
I couldn’t write a post without featuring a lantern or a candle holder of some sort, so adding this Graham & Brown Decorative Candle Lantern to the list is a must. With a distressed metal and glass design it looks like an old vintage find that’s perfect for housing a pillar candle to create a relaxing atmosphere in your home. And finally, this Black Bicycle Ornament from Dunelm is one that I’ve been eyeing up for a while now. The old traditional bike is a lovely decorative piece to add to a sideboard or side table.
So that’s it, 8 industrial style metal pieces that I’d love to fill my house with. Which item do you like the most?
