As you may know, my bedroom is a work in process. I’ve said many times that it was the first room we decorated when we moved in and it was all a bit rushed, so I’m trying to work with what we’ve done and turn it into a space I love. Slow and steady wins the race and all that… There’s one area in the room that I’ve been struggling with and that’s the bay window area, it’s only a half bay but my heart screams to me ‘if you like it then you’ve gotta put a chair in it‘ (poor attempt at altering a bit of Beyonce there). So that’s what I’d absolutely love to do, a chair would look fantastic in the slanted corner there don’t you think? However, with the driveway still a work in progress (we’ve paid for the drop curb now and it should be done within the next 8 – 10 weeks) money is tight and so my dream of having a chair in our bedroom will have to wait. But for now, I’m the happiest I have been with the area and so I thought I’d share…
The stand out item here is without a doubt the Painted Wooden Lantern from Next, as soon as I saw it I fell in love with it and knew it’d be perfect for our bedroom. It’s a real gem and one that I can imagine in a variety of rooms, used in many different ways. The grey box it sits on is from TK Maxx who always do a great selection of storage boxes like this one. As for the wicker heart (similar), vase (similar but a different colour) and faux flowers (similar here), they’re all old ones which (I think!) are from Tesco but these are items that are easy to find similar ones of regardless.
The Heart Of House Knitted Pod Pouffe in Charcoal is another of my favourites and I’ve found that this Heart of House at Argos one is the same knitted design as elsewhere, but at a slightly cheaper price. The skandi style pouffe is snug, stylish and practical and I often sit there in the mornings in a mad dash to pop on my shoes. Beside the grey pouffe there’s a Wilko’s black wire basket which I use to keep extra throwovers and cushions in if they’re needed, unfortunately it’s no longer available but you can find a similar one on Ebay here and here.
I’ve still got some Voile Panel Nets from Wilko to go up on this window but haven’t got around to putting them up yet. I didn’t want blinds as we have blinds downstairs and just fancied something different, but it should make the room look very fresh and clean, as well as giving us more privacy of course!
What does your window area look like?
