An Overnight Birthday Trip To Leeds

P8050030It’s my 26th birthday tomorrow and unfortunately I’m working. Thankfully, Jordan let it slip that he’d planned a trip for us to go to Leeds to celebrate the Friday before and so that’s just what we’ve done. If you follow me on Snapchat (add me: GemmaO_TBF) then you’ll have seen a few too many snapchats of what we got up to but for those of you that don’t this post will give you a snapshot…

We stayed in the Leeds Marriot in the city centre and it really was the perfect location for us to explore Leeds itself from as the Trinity centre was just across the road along with many bars also on your doorstep. When we arrived our tummies were rumbling so we headed across the road to the Trinity Kitchen in the Trinity Centre. A collection of street food stands, it’s a funky canteen style food hall and one which me and Jordan were in our element in. In the end I decided on a rice bowl and Jordan on a wrap, both which were delicious and had us nodding our heads at each other in agreement as we ate.

The sun shined the whole day and we took advantage of the weather, sitting outside for a cider or two in Banyan

and diving in and out of shops, exploring every nook and cranny Leeds city centre offered us.

By 5pm our stomachs were gurgling again and we decided to try out Leeds Red’s True Barbecue. We’d been to the Nottingham one and liked it, so after trying somewhere new for lunch we played it safe with dinner…

Or rather, Jordan did and I tried my first gluten free bun which was surprisingly rather nice. Thumbs up Red’s!

The bill paid, we headed back to our Executive Room for a while to relax on the huge comfy bed before getting ready for a night out and making the most of the free wine in the Executive Lounge. We strolled up and around the bars on Call Lane until the early hours, laughed relentlessly and danced until my feet hurt before strolling casually back to the Marriott to get some much needed beauty sleep.

I had such a great time in Leeds, it was only my 2nd time visiting (and Jordan’s 1st!) and it lived up to everything I’d remembered. Thank you for a lovely birthday treat Jordan, made even better by a completely unexpected early birthday present – an Olympus Pen PL-7 Camera (used for the first time in this post!). I’m one happy lady!
