If you saw this post from our spontaneous BBQ on Friday night then you might have noticed that the garden decking area is looking much better in comparison to how it was before and I have most of the items mentioned when I shared our plans for the area back in April. After spending a good few hours in the garden earlier, I’ve decided it’s still not at the stage where I’m happy to show it off but it’s definitely getting there and to be honest, I think it’s mostly just a matter of adding more finishing touches. So with that in mind I thought I’d share a few of the items I’d like to order over the next few weeks as well as a couple that are high up on my wish list but I won’t be purchasing anytime soon (thanks to finally paying for our new drop curb for the drive which will be done in 12 weeks time!)…
I painted the concrete fence posts the same colour as the fences and decking earlier today and I’m so glad I did. I’d been umm-ing and ahh-ing about it for a good few weeks now but as soon as the paint started to go on I knew I’d made the right decision and it makes such a huge difference not having horrible grey concrete in between our dark brown fence panels. However, it definitely needs some kind of lighting situation for when the sun begins to set and these Wilko Tear Drop String Lights look ideal. They’re something a little bit different from your typical fairy lights and I think they look a little bit classier too! I think that this Wilko Gold Buddha Wall Art would be fantastic on the wall somewhere to bring Asia to my back garden when we can’t jet off there just yet ourselves (we’ll have to wait until we get married in Bali next year for that!).
Plant-wise so far we’ve got five or six different types of herbs which I’m already enjoying using in my cooking, I’ve got two dwarf conifers and I’m growing a Purple Iris (it’s going well!) and two Hosta’s (which are going terribly and I have no idea why, help!?). But, I’m desperate for an Acer tree, a small vibrant red one that can live in a pot and I’d love the odd grass or two too. Perhaps an Elijah Blue and a Red Barron? In reality I’d love my little decking area to look almost like a jungle but that’ll take some time to collect all the plants that I like and for it to blossom into a space I’m truly happy with.
Finally, I’d absolutely adore some kind of garden accent chair and this Cox & Cox Hanging Egg Chair makes me weak at the knee’s. Imagine it in a corner surrounded by a number of plants and lanterns. It’d be the perfect place to sit, relax and read a good book! Don’t you agree? I must admit that this is definitely one to add to my wish list but I’d scoop it up in an instant if I could.
Is your garden Summer ready? Or is it a work in progress?
